The Coalition for Voting Integrity made its first request for a reexamination of the Danaher voting machines in 2006. The state denied that request. The second request, in 2008, had a more positive reception until the question of what criteria would be used arose. CVI did not want a reexamination unless Pennsylvania adopted the same high standards that were applied in the California Top-to-Bottom Review or the Ohio EVEREST testing. Ironically, at least two of the university professors who were leaders of those studies are based in Pennsylvania. Regrettably,
the state is not willing to employ their skills to test the machines that many Pennsylvanians use to vote, and has denied
our petition for a reexamination under rigorous standards.
